Posture & The Pelvic Floor
Saturday, August 17, 10-12:15 pm; $75
In-Person, Sacramento, CA
Almost everything people do to “stand straight” or have better posture is wrong. Despite your best intentions, pulling your shoulders back or trying to stand “tall” is probably causing issues in your spine, breath and delicate neck muscles.
Not only that, the position of your torso and rib cage is directly related to your pelvic floor and can put undue pressure there, contributing to prolapse and bladder leakage.
If you invest in one workshop this summer, make it this one.
What we are taught about “good posture” often has to do with an image, not an anatomical intelligence.
“Today’s class was like hopeful poetry for the aging hips and posture. I see women I know being told to stretch their psoas. Your class today also strengthens and I really think could “Save Your Hips” not to mention the brilliance of continued rib cage awareness”
There isn’t one “quick fix” for posture (like “pull your shoulders back”).
Instead, the secret to the elegant balance you’re seeking comes from a more nuanced way of working with the body.
Because everything is connected. Literally!
This work has yielded ah-ha's for students around:
what to do (and not do) with their shoulders
why rib cage position is so important
where the head is “supposed” to be
why ‘belly breath’ isn’t always the answer
how to avoid neck strain
how to take good alignment into daily life
how the position of the trunk relates to the pelvic floor
“I never knew I could “open” and “flower” my pelvis!”
”I feel more clearly now how the inner body is all connected.”
”These movements helped my pelvic floor (and my jaw) to relax.”
”I’ve only been told to squeeze my pelvic floor. I’m so relieved to know what to do instead.”
If you have:
shoulder issues
neck pain
a Dowager’s Hump
low back pain
pelvic floor concerns like sneeze pee or pain
This workshop will help!!
You’ll learn:
rib alignment
neck alignment and ease
upper spine mobility
why your psoas is so important and how to support it
shoulder neutrality and mobility
how to connect your pelvic and thoracic domes
You’ll take what you learn into your ongoing yoga practice, as well as into your daily life.
Join me for two hours of intelligent anatomy, effective movement and a lot of fun.
