Feet + the Pelvic Floor

Feet & The Pelvic Floor

Saturday, August 3, 1-3:15 pm; $75
In-Person, Sacramento, CA

“Death starts in the feet.” This is the quote that woke me up to how essential it is to work with the feet.

Not only do weak feet and ankles contribute to all kinds of issues like shaky balance, knee and hip pain and mobility issues, your feet are directly related to your pelvic floor!

SOLD OUT - Recording will be available next week!

Incredibly, your fascia, connective tissue and muscles travel from your feet in a continuous line into your pelvic floor. That means the arches of your feet, as well as your foot and ankle strength and alignment, can be mimicked in your pelvic floor.  Tight feet, flat feet and tight ankles all create a response in the pelvic floor that can lead to leakage, pain, even painful sex.

We are going to work the foot-to-pelvic floor connection — a massive connection of tissue and muscle to remedy knee, hip, core, pelvic and low back issues.

Even if you don’t think you have foot issues, working with the feet is magical and enlightening. Tying the domes of the feet into the dome of the pelvic floor will open up new worlds in your body.

Both your feet and your pelvic floor have a huge impact on other parts of your body: knee issues, tight hips, low back pain, balance issues, and of course pelvic concerns like sneeze pee and pain.

Let’s ditch the taboo topics and get curious about and loving toward these amazing bodies.

My feet are so happy! I absolutely loved the foot massage/slumber party blanket walk.
— Foot Class Feedback

One mistake movement/yoga practices often make is to focus only one part of the body at a time.

* Do exercises for your feet. * Then do exercises for your hips. * Then do exercises for your core. * Then do breathwork.

The secret is the openness and strength you want come from a more nuanced way of working with the body.
Because everything is connected. Literally!

This work has yielded ah-ha's for students around:

  • how to use the grounding points of the foot

  • feeling much more stable in balance poses

  • how to work with bunions, hammertoes and flat feet

I never knew I could “open” and “flower” my pelvis!”
”I feel more clearly now how the inner body is all connected.”
”These movements helped my pelvic floor (and my jaw) to relax.”
”I’ve only been told to squeeze my pelvic floor. I’m so relieved to know what to do instead.
— Ah-has from Past Participants

  • flat feet

  • bunions

  • connect your foot domes with your pelvic and thoracic domes

It doesn’t matter what age you are — it’s never too late or too early to take care of your feet.

You’ll take what you learn into your ongoing yoga practice, as well as into your daily life.
