There will be tea + treats and surprises.
We'll open with some moon salutations and yin poses, closing with a solstice meditation.

Here we are in the "exhale" season of the year -- the time of slowing down, curling inward, resting and simplifying.

Yet the thrust of holidays brings a pace and schedule that our animal bodies may find “unnatural.”

Nature Knows

Solstice literally means “sun stands still.” It is an astrological event that marks the longest night of the year, when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky — the North Pole is tilted furthest away from the sun.

On the days surrounding the solstice the sun seems to pause on the horizon, lingering in the same space before turning back toward incrementally longer days again.

Nature is showing us, in so many ways, the wisdom of going inward, simplifying, pausing and letting go.

I feel warm and cared for. By you. And by me.”
”This helped shift my dread of winter and the dark.”
”Thank you so much for the lovely practice — it was all absolutely wonderful and exactly what I needed to get through the holidays.
— Past Solstice Participants

For centuries the winter solstice has symbolized hope, promise, rebirth, the cycles of life.

The Winter Solstice is a metaphor for the liminal time before the light returns. For our ancestors, this was a matter of survival. That the light would return meant crops, warmth and new cycles.

Celebrating the rebirth of the sun helps us stay in touch with our own cycles and seasons. We remember that, no matter what, the sun has not forsaken us.

Coming together in community brings warmth of heart.
Bowing to your own shadows makes more of you known to yourself.
Celebrating the sun reminds you to look for the light, even if it’s through the cracks.

This year you’ll be treated with the usual loving care … and also extra-special surprises.

I hope you’ll join us. All levels welcome.
